Knee is Strong, Endurance is low

Saturday was the longest ride in about 2 years.  Maybe more… I don’t remember how long my knee was hurting my riding before the surgery.  At around 2 1/4 hours, I rode about 63 km.  The 2 1/4 is the key number in my rehab.

Knee Update: Feeling solid on the bike again

Knee Update - I am feeling pretty good!

The second storm of the year is coming through and I feel good.  I had feared these storms since they have made my bones hurt in the past, but I don’t seem to be bothered by them.  I’ve even been riding more and doing some weights.  All in all, I am on my longest streak of time without majore swelling and setbacks!

A Better Time out Sailing

I got out for a Hot Rum “race” to see how my knee would react to being on the boat again.  It is hard for me to not be active and involved on the boat.  I did another casual sail on one of the summer beer can races that left me pretty sore.

Microfracture: 1 Year Post-OP

I can’t believe it has been a year since my microfracture surgery. A year ago today, I wasn’t sure how I was going to make it through the next 6 weeks of my life on crutches. A lot ended up happening in those 6 weeks.

Microfracture: 8 Month Update

March 25th marks the 8th month since my microfracture surgery. I recently heard a professional athlete say that his expected recovery time for his microfracture was 8 months. Based on the way I feel, the 8 month number sounds about right.

First Post-Op Road Ride

Mavic Ksyrium ESI went for my first ride on the road today. It felt great. My big concerns were with manuvering and if I would have the ability to keep myself safe in traffic.
