Fires are Contained
Well, at least they are mostly contained. After spending a little time away so the kids could play, the fires have run their course and San Diego is now in a rebuild mode.

This is a brief update for Thursday morning. We were graciously taken in by the mayor of El Centro. It just so happens that my wife’s cousin is married to her…
The kids had a lot of fun playing and it was nice to get away. The drive out was beautiful (I’ll try to get pictures up after we return). It sounds like progress on the fires is being made.

Here at the house, the sky looks a little better, but the falling ash is getting bigger. From what I can tell, the fire is no way under control, but conditions have improved.

The morning sky is a mix of blood red and black smoke. The winds at our house are still calm, but much of the county is seeing more wind. The fires continued to rage. The evacuation area does not seem to be much closer, but the fires are running unchecked.

Currently, our whole family is ok and we are not looking at an evacuation. The evacuation area is about 8 miles from us.
Four years ago, San Diego had some of the worst fires ever. They got close to us, but we were safe the whole time. So far, it looks like the same scenario is unfolding, but the fires may be much, much worse.
